Prof. Kirca is a German and Irish trained Gastroenterologist who has been working in Ireland since 2004.
After graduating in 1996 he started his training at the Johann-Wolfgang-Goethe University in Frankfurt, Germany and completed his Specialist Training in Gastroenterology in 2007 in St. James Hospital, Dublin.
He has extensive experience including Ultrasound, Endoscopic Ultrasound, ERCP, upper and lower GI Endoscopy, small bowel double balloon Enteroscopy and also diagnosis and treatment of various chronic illnesses like IBD and liver disease.
Prof. Kirca is currently working in the Regional Hospital Mullingar since 2007 and was appointed as permanent Gastroenterologist in 2013. He was the Clinical Director from 2019 until 2023 and is the Chair of the Medical Board.
He has established an ANP based IBD service and a CNS based Hepatology service in Mullingar Hospital.
He was awarded an MD at the University in Freiburg in Internal Medicine and a PhD at Trinity College Dublin for his research in Barrett’s oesophagus and cancer where he worked as academic Lecturer
