Profile

Prof Brian Christopher is an Irish Medical Graduate, graduated with an honours degree from National University of Ireland, Galway (NUIG). He is a current permanent Consultant Gastroenterologist and General Physician working in Regional Hospital Mullingar (RHM), County Westmeath, Ireland. His current other clinical and academic appointments include:-

· Clinical Lead in Endoscopy in RHM

· Honorary Associate Professor, RCSI & UCD Malaysia Campus (RUMC)

· UCD Assistant Clinical Professor

· RCSI Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer

Brian has obtained Fellowships from Royal Colleges of Physicians i.e. Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, FRCP (Glasg), Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (FRCPI), Royal College of Physicians, London, FRCP (London) and from European Section Board of Gastroenterology and Hepatology (FESBGH).

He completed his Specialist training in Gastroenteorology, Hepatology and General Internal Medicine in Ireland and obtained Certificate of Satisfactory Completion of Specialist Training (CSCST) from the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland.

He further pursued his post graduate training abroad in numerous renowned Gastroenterology and centre of excellent Institutions across Europe (i.e. Humanitas Research Hospital in Milan, Berlin, Amsterdam University Medical Centre etc.), UK centres and in the United States (Chicago, San Diego). He has extensive experience in Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Interventional endoscopy and Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) care. He has also completed a 3-year United European Gastroenterology (UEG) post graduate training and teaching curriculum.

Brian had completed his training having worked in main hospitals in Dublin including Beaumont, St Vincent’s University Hospital (SVUH) – Hepatology training in the National Liver Transplant unit, Tallaght University Hospital (TUH) and Connolly Hospital. He has worked as Consultant Gastroenterologist and Interventional Endoscopist in St James’s Hospital in Dublin for more than 2 years prior to taking up his current position.

He has been involved in multiple researches, audits, publications as well as oral and poster presentations at both international and national level meetings and conferences
